So I’m going to my first sweat…

And this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. But lately, especially, it’s been on my mind and I’ve felt this big need to go to ceremony. I have been talking to elders and friends that have been urging me to make this effort and I’ve been feeling scared and greatly inspired at the same time. I want this to happen. So I randomly bumped into a women who leads the sweat and helps make the dresses and I opened up to her. So in about an hour I will be joining her and a few other staff to do this. I was talking to my supervisor who is going as well and I just started crying out of nowhere. I mean I don’t have much struggle going on in my life, or at least nothing I can’t handle and move pass with time and a strong mind set. But I am feeling so emotional right now and I don’t really know how this is going to go or how it is going to end up but for once in my life I feel like this is something that I need. My throat is tightening and my stomach is doing flips and time is moving so slowly. I don’t really know why I’m reacting this way, I hate when I’m really emotional. My supervisor said it’s my body preparing. Well I’m rambling and I don’t think anyone will really read this since I hardly update anymore and my blog isn’t really that personal. But if anyone is reading this I hope you too have tried to connect with your traditions in some way. Reach out and learn something from your elders/ ancestors. Wish me luck!

Cop Sexually Assaults Woman Then Arresting Her For Protesting

As if that wasn’t enough for them, they sent her child to protective services and put the mother in jail for “making false allegations against a police officer”, which is actually not a crime. Now that it’s been revealed she was telling the truth, not only is the cop fired, but even the judge who sat there and let it happen is under investigation.
